The evolution of the trucking industry has had residual effects on all it touches, and sometimes it’s good to celebrate and look back at the innovation as we move forward.
This week Mack Trucks celebrates the completion of 100,000 trucks equipped with their “Mack GuardDog Connect,” an integrated Telematics System which launched back in 2014.
GuardDog Connect is a proactive diagnostic and repair planning solution for Mack Trucks, monitoring the trucks fault coding which alerts drivers of potential issues with their truck well before they become issues. These alerts are also communicated to a 24/7 customer service center as a way to truly maximize a customer’s uptime. Once an issue has become present, an alert is sent to the Mack Trucks Uptime Center. Mack Trucks Customer Specialists work to keep parts ordered and schedule repairs before they are needed most times while the truck is still on the road.
Mack Trucks takes innovative steps by keeping current with industry updates as technology evolves. Other trucking fleet companies like Samsung, have worked towards innovations within the trucking industry making safer driving conditions. Their “Safety Truck” has cameras and monitors which are projected onto the vehicle to see what’s going on in front of the truck while driving.
As these fleet and technology companies grow in this industry, we could possibly be seeing a complete overhaul in trucking. Whether it’s improving safety, maintenance, or the overall efficiency of these trucks and fleets.
